I'm writing this article to make people more aware of medical scams not only by corporate medical practises but also by dentists jumping into the game and stuffing their pockets full of cash. Getting a doctor or dentist that is very happy is the best dentist to have working on you but that happeness will cost you as they use this and the fact you are in pain to create huge profits for themselves.
I recently discovered not only were dentists practising their usual money making scams but they are intentionally cracking teeth knowing that you will come back to them for more treatments to correct the problems. Dentists won't do this on the first or second visit but when that dentist knows he or she has been chosen as your family dentist and will be back they start creating problems in your mouth.
One way the dentist create problems I do know about is they will numb you up then pound on your teeth or a chosen tooth to create cracks that will bring them future business from you when you start having problems with the cracked teeth. Teeth do crack from eating hard foods or banging them against something by accident but the dentists know this and do some cracking of their own. When a dentist numbs your mouth to work on a cavity they pull out the drill and crack the teeth this way also. Some pull out a hammer and tap the teeth, some use the drill to create undo pressure in the hole they are drilling, some drill from the top and use the drill bit as a lever to put side pressure on the tooth wall and crack it. After you start feeling pain months or years later they say you need a root canal and a cap. No matter what you do when you get old your cracked teeth will fall apart under the cap and if they are not capped they will fall out of your mouth piece by piece. Cracked teeth will eventually fall apart and fall out of your mouth 10 to 20 years later. The dentist hopes you will have problems sooner like pain that will bring you back faster but teeth get cracked under the gum and that may take years.
Here are some other known scams that are commonly known by dentists. The dentists like to bill insurance companies and they like lots of people that pay cash. The more money they can fleece from you the better their vacations will be. I myself used two dentists in many years past and one bragged about his vacation to Italy and the other bragged about his vacation to Brazil. I had a women dentist too but she wanted $60.00 when dental care was just increasing from $30 an appointment back in the 1990's. Now a dental appointment over $90 unless you can find a deal from a hard up dentist that offers X-Rays and visit for under $40 but expect to hear about lots of problems in your mouth and a cavity that needs to be filled for $150. After you get your cavity filled you may walk out with a cracked tooth you won't find out about for many years.
The scams
Worthless treatment. Dishonest dentists perform useless surgery on perfectly healthy patients to hike their own insurance billings. The dentists remove healthy teeth, do root canals that aren't needed, and drill for cavities that don't exist. Sometimes children's teeth are even drilled without painkiller. Often the surgery is botched: Shoddy crowns or fillings fall out. Patients have found surgical debris embedded in their gums. Patients also become painfully infected and disfigured, and need more surgery to correct the treatments.
Inflated billings. Dishonest dentists do minor procedures such as routine tooth cleanings, but bill your insurance plan for costlier treatments such as phantom root canals or cavity fillings.
Phantom treatment. Dentists bill insurers for treatments they never perform. They send the insurer forged bills for fake treatment, medicine and supplies they never used. They may bill the policies of current patients, or invent "patients" they've never even met.
Unlicensed dentists and employees. Sometimes dentists illegally treat patients despite losing their licenses for previous infractions. Some dentists also have hygienists, assistants or other staff perform treatments — even though they aren't licensed or qualified. The dentists then bill insurers as if the dentists performed the treatment themselves. And you could receive shoddy treatment.
Fake dental plans. Con artists sell fake dental insurance to people and businesses. This leaves you dangerously unprotected when you need costly dental treatment. Typically the plan operators are shady businesspeople, not dentists.
